The calendar just turned over and it’s now 2015!
And with a new year comes countdowns and reflections about one’s year past. For the wedding planners at Impresario Events, it went something like this:
We started off our wedding season earlier than expected (in March) with not one but two weddings at the Design Exchange in downtown Toronto. It is interesting how one venue can look so different depending on the décor the couple has selected! Both Yvonne & Laith and Machteld & Brett selected us to be their “Day Of” wedding coordinators. I love these wedding venues that can support winter and off-season weddings… let’s face it, we only get a few months of “good” weather in Canada so it is great to have options!
Then we were into the thick of wedding season!
Danielle and Chad weren’t sure if they wanted to hire a Toronto wedding planner for full planning or if they wanted a Toronto wedding coordinator but following our initial meeting decided to go full-out given the ideas that we had based on the wedding vision they described. They were thrilled with the outcome and married in a fun & informal wedding at Fantasy Farm in Toronto. The weather was perfect and everything looked gorgeous.
A week later Melissa and Dave exchanged vows at Columbus Centre. Another perfect day. They also hired us as their full wedding planner. We had a tough time finding the perfect venue but Columbus Centre fit the bill!
Next up was a very traditional Jewish wedding for Ladan and Brad at The Royalton in Vaughan. It was our first Jewish wedding of 2014 but not our last! As their wedding coordinators, we managed to pull everything together for this incredible fete.
The trend continued with another wedding coordinator engagement for Sharone and Maegan, who also had a traditional Jewish ceremony and reception at Casa Loma. This couple was so incredibly in love – the mood was contagious and there was a smile on the face of every guest all night long.
Ken and Jess then took the stage on a hot early July day for their traditional Chinese wedding. We were their full wedding planner and had been working with them for almost a year. The Shangri La in Toronto was the venue and there was a traditional 10 course Chinese banquet, with four dress changes for the bride, three ceremonies, and Lion Dancers setting the stage for a grand affair!
A little break ensued in July with August hitting full force.
On the August long weekend, guests and vendors battled outrageous traffic to get to Niagara on the Lake for the wedding of Vitaly and Ayesha at White Oaks. But it was well worth it. Another couple who hired us as their wedding planner, we had become friends over the 1.5 years since we started discussing their wedding. One of our favourite couples for sure!
The following weekend saw the union of Danielle and Massimo in a Catholic ceremony followed by reception at The Venetian Banquet Hall. No expense was spared on the florals and the décor and it really showed! Danielle looked particularly gorgeous and was the most gracious & wonderful bride. We were their day-of wedding coordinators for this one.
Now for the big weekend! Three weddings in one day spread across everyone on our team! August 16th saw the weddings of
We were the Toronto wedding planner for all three and you can imagine the craziness of the day! But everything went well at each wedding and everyone on our team was more than happy with the results…. Even though the weather threatened rain throughout the day and two of the ceremonies which were intended for outdoors had to be moved inside.
The following weekend was reserved for Christina and Anthony who had a traditional Greek Orthodox wedding in Toronto followed by their reception at Supreme Banquet Hall in Vaughan. Christina hired us as her day of wedding coordinator over a year before her wedding as she was ultra-organized and similarly every detail on this wedding was thought out and executed to perfection.
Phew! A break over Labour Day weekend!
Off to Berceste and Babak’s Turkish-Persian wedding held at Bellevue Manor, complete with a traditional Sofreh Aghd as well as a Western ceremony. Over 300 guests attended this lavish affair which also included a traditional Persian tea station complete with incredible fruit and pastries.
The next day we had the wedding of Amarylis and Carlos at Fantasy Farm. As their wedding planner we were actually hired by them two years in advance to bring this day to life. There was a bit of craziness to start but everything came together and it was smiles all around. We were especially proud of this one because Amarylis chose a custom-made two piece lace gown from Impresario Events.
Two weddings on September 13th! We were the Toronto wedding planner for Lauren and Mike as they held their semi-Jewish wedding at the Toronto Reference Library, an incredibly unique venue for a wedding! At the same time, we were hired for day of wedding coordination for Nicole and Dom’s star-studded Vaughan wedding. Zerlene handled the Lauren-Mike wedding while Karen coordinated the Nicole-Dom wedding.
Wrapping up September was Aziza and Moe, also at Fantasy Farm in a beautiful outdoor ceremony with Caribbean vibes and dancing well into the wee hours!
Finally over the Thanksgiving weekend we got to see the wedding reception of Karen and Matt come to fruition at the Rosewater Restaurant in downtown Toronto. This was our final full wedding planner gig for 2014 and it went out with a bang! Lavish décor, gorgeous florals, exquisite food, lion dancers and dress changes. What more could a wedding guest ask for?
And incredible 2014 for sure…. With so much more to come in 2015!
Happy New Year everyone!
