On a truly gorgeous summer Saturday, Ken and Jess were married at the gorgeous Shangri La Hotel in downtown Toronto.
This traditional Chinese celebration had all the trimmings, starting early in the morning with the festivities at a Tea Ceremony at the Bride’s home honouring her relatives, particularly the elder ones. Ken and Jess got decked out in authentic Chinese wedding attire for this portion of the day.
They were treated to a shower of rice thrown by the family as they made their way out to another tea ceremony and lunch at the groom’s home.
The main event was taking place in the Museum Room of the Shangri-La Hotel. The room was decorated in light gold and rich reds. They would be walking down a personalized aisle runner and in fact every element o their wedding was very personal (including the groom & groomsmen processional song choice of the Star Wars theme song!)
Ken and Jess at this point had changed into more traditional Western wedding clothing and they looked fantastic as they exchanged their “I Dos” in their very unique and meaningful Catholic-style ceremony!
The reception set up was equally gorgeous.
Then the reception got underway!
The first dance:
And the cake cutting:
Then following another dress change back to the traditional outfit, the couple made a second surprise entrance into the hall with a Lion Dance troupe! These lions were fantastic and fully rigged with LED lights. They stayed, they played, they ate and enthralled everyone!
What an incredible day! All the best to you both!
