Our first wedding of 2014 took place yesterday at the Design Exchange in Downtown Toronto.
While the traffic was miserable (Bay Street was closed for filming of some sort), all the guests managed to make it to the wedding on time and any gridlock frustrations quickly dissipated once they were treated to the sight of the beautiful ceremony set up:
Everything started on schedule and the wedding was underway! Machteld made a dramatic entrance down the staircase in the Trading Floor with her father, to be joined by her mother at the bottom and walk her way to her beaming husband-to-be. Both looked incredible and super in love!
Following the ceremony, the guests went downstairs to the main level to enjoy cocktail hour including the couple’s signature Caesar cocktail. Here are some of the examples of the little thoughtful touches and personalizations that went into making this wedding memorable, for example a vintage window frame for the seating chart or an old-fashioned postbox for the cards:
Meanwhile, the incredibly professional staff at the Design Exchange (in conjunction with the staff from our favourite caterers Marigolds & Onions) were completely changing over the room that was just the ceremony space and transforming it into a gorgeous dining hall.
There was a mixture of tall and short centerpieces in stunning silver vases:
There was also a Memorial Table, celebrating the grandparents of both Machteld and Brett who had sadly already passed on but who were there in spirit no doubt and who were lovingly remembered.
The cake was a beautiful and elegant creation (vanilla raspberry, yum!) with fine lace-like detailing on a pale pink background, illuminated by candles:
This was a fantastic wedding to kick off our busy 2014 season with and we couldn’t be happier for this wonderful couple. Cheers!
