Private Holiday Parties – Yup, we do that too!

So we do weddings – that’s pretty obvious.

We do corporate events – everything from small investor gatherings to larger corporate events like Holiday Parties, golf tournaments and the like.

But we also do private parties!   Our latest one was held this past Monday evening by the wife of a top-level executive at a big Canadian telecommunications company (one of the major players – I won’t say exactly who).    Tired of hosting a party year after year for her husband’s VIP colleagues at her home and doing all the work herself, she hired us to relieve her of the burden.

And let’s face it – throwing parties is a burden for the host(ess).   You really can never enjoy yourself at your own party because you are constantly tending to the needs of your guests, chasing after the cooking, tidying up as you go…  it’s a lot of work and quite exhausting!

For the first time, she decided to get help and we were there to do just that!

We decided upon setting a long banquet table for her 22 VIP guests, and adorned it with red satin linen, mirrored charger plates, and mirrored vases with alternating white vendella roses or white amarylis (the most traditional Christmas flower).   We added silver candlesticks of varying heights and widths for visual interest as well as a selection of votives in snowflake-adorned holders.   Then a small silver box containing chocolate truffles, topped with a red metallic satin bow and crystal snowflake was placed at each setting.

When the lights were dimmed, with holiday tunes being sung by Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Bing Crosby and other greats in the background, the fireplace going…  the ambiance was magical.

We arranged for a festive menu to be provided by one of Toronto’s top caterers and had a chef on hand as well as waitstaff to make sure there was never an empty glass nor plate to be cleared.   Guests raved about the food having seconds and thirds… while the hostess was free to mingle and chat.

Another popular item was the dessert display.   Candy cane parfaits (eggnog pannacotta layered with cranberry and cherry compote) alternated with mini angel food cakes and cherry compote plates…  with a holiday tree of white chocolate truffles and white chocolate dipped strawberries!   Resistance was futile!

The end of the evening came far too soon but guests lingered, enjoying the company and the ambiance.

We were very pleased with how the evening went and the hostess was simply delighted!   I have a feeling we’ll be back next year!   🙂
