Though they may not want to admit it, many couples are counting on receiving a certain amount of cash gifts (to help pay for some of the wedding and/or honeymoon).
But what do guests actually give?
According to the most recent (April 2013) issue of Moneysense magazine, reporting on a survey done by The Knot, here is what you can expect:
- Guests who know you from the office (a colleague or business associate): $50-$75
- Friends or relatives: $75-$100
- Close friends or immediate relatives: $100-$150
It was not made clear if these amounts were “per guest” or “per couple” (I hope not “per family”!).
